About Kamapim

Kamapim is a Tok Pisin word that translates as, to grow, to develop and to improve.

We are dedicated to developing high quality sustainable agricultural crops with remote tribal landowners that protect large tracks of primary rainforest and preserve traditional culture.

We are committed to high quality, organically grown, fairly traded products with customer satisfaction as our top priority.

Vanilla

KAMAPIM trains small-holder farmers to produce high quality vanilla. Papua New Guinea has been producing organically grown vanilla for some 50 years, with production growing over the past 20 years to become one of the largest producers in the world. Tribal land owners cultivate both Planifolia and Tahitensis depending on the local climate and altitude. Each bean comes from an individual flower which opens only once, which must be hand pollinated before it withers by midday. Nine months after this labour intensive pollination, the green flavourless fruit reaches maturity. Then farmers harvest the ripe beans and begin the long traditional curing process, which is crucial for the development of the flavour and vanillin content.

Local partnership, global reach

KAMAPIM buys vanilla beans directly from local farmers in small villages.

KAMAPIM has developed digital applications for full traceability, from harvesting to export of final products.

Farmers transform the odourless raw material into the well known flavourful product.

Papua New Guinea's tropical climate provides the ideal conditions for growing vanilla. KAMAPIM ensures ethical sustainability throughout the entire growing, harvesting and production process.

KAMAPIM has organized the sourcing of raw material from villages in ways that respect and preserve the environment, stimulate the development and well being of local communities and safeguards the efficient use of Papua New Guinea's precious resources.

KAMAPIM has developed stable and long-term relationships with farmers, harvesters and communities in different regions.

We guarantee that fair prices are paid directly to the farmers.
